لنا صديقٌ إنْ رأى

مُهَفهَفاً لاطَفَهُ

We have a friend, if he sees

One downtrodden, he will show him kindness

وإنْ يكُنْ في دهرِنا

ذو أُبْنَةٍ لاطِ فَهُو

And if there be in our time

One of noble lineage, he will be kindly to him
