1. بأبي مَنْ أدارَ مِن عَيْنَيْهِ

    مِثلَ ما قدْ أدارَهُ بيَديْهِ

    My father be his ransom—he who passed round from his eyes

    the like of what he had passed round with his hands.

  2. قَمرٌ يقمُرُ العُقولَ بسِحْرٍ

    مالَهُ مركزٌ سِوى عَينَيْهِ

    A moon who vanquishes minds with a magic

    that has no seat anywhere but in his two eyes.

  3. هو أغنى الأنامِ عَنِّي ولكِنْ

    أنا من أحْوَجِ الأنامِ إلَيهِ

    He, of all people, has least need of me; yet

    I, of all people, have greatest need of him.
