دَعوني وأمري واختِياري فإنَّني

عَليمٌ بما أَفْري وأخلُقُ من أَمْري

Leave me be with my affair and my choice, for I

Know what I offer and create of my matter

إذا ما مضى يَومٌ ولم أَصْطَنِعْ يَداَ

ولم أقتبِسْ عِلماً فما هُوَ مِن عُمْري

If a day passes and my hand does not make

And I do not glean knowledge, then it is not of my life
