1. كأنَّما النَّيْلوفَرُ الغَضُّ إذ

    يَبدو لَنا من مائهِ الغَمْرِ

    As if the tender blue water lilies

    When they appear to us from their water depths

  2. وإذْ يُراعي طلعَةَ الشَّمسِ كي

    يفتحَ أحداقاً من التِّبْرِ

    And when they regard the rising of the sun so that

    They open their eyelids made of amber

  3. بلقيسُ في صَرْحِ قواريرِها

    واقِفةً في الحُللِ الخُضْرِ

    Bilqis in her palace of glass

    Standing in her green garments

  4. تُراقِبُ الشَّمسَ ومن دينِها

    أنَّ لَها الخَلْقَ معَ الأمرِ

    Observes the sun, and of her religion

    Is that to it belong the creation and the command
