ألا لا تتخِذ إلا كريماً

زكيَّ العِرقِ طينتُهُ ولَيجَه

Do not take as a friend anyone but the noble,

Of pure lineage, his character and manners refined.

فإن الوالدين هما جميعاً

For parents are both the root,

And children are but the fruit of their kind.
