قلْ للّذي سَدَّ الثُّغورَ لأنَّها

فيها شُرورٌ تُتَّقى وغَوائلُ

Tell the one who closed the gaps, for in them

Are evils to be avoided and pitfalls

أولى الثُّغورِ بأنْ يُخافُ ويُتَّقى

ثَغرُ الزَّمانِ وأنتَ عنهُ غافِلُ

The gaps of time deserve more to be feared and avoided

Yet you are oblivious to it, O heedless one
