رأيتُ حياةَ المرءِ مثلَ مماتِهِ

إذا هو لم يسعد بدنيا ولا دينِ

I saw a man's life like his death

If he's not happy in this world or religion

فكُن ناسِكاً أو فاتِكاً متنعماً

والا فمت موت الكلابِ على هُونِ

So be an ascetic or a hedonist prospering

Otherwise die the death of dogs in disgrace
