البَيْنُ بَيَّنَ أشْجاني وأشجاني

وبَلَّ بالدَّمعِ أَرْداني وأَرْداني

Separation made evident my sorrows and my sorrows

And soaked with tears my cheeks and my cheeks

لم يَكفِني أنْ أذابَ الدَّمعُ إنساني

وخَصَّني بملامِ كُلِّ إنسانِ

It was not enough that tears melted my humanity

And singled me out for the blame of every human
