مِن شَرَفِ الفَقرِ وَمِن فَضلِهِ
عَلى الغِنى لَو صَحَّ مِنكَ النَظَر
Part of poverty’s nobility and its superiority
over wealth—if your discernment is sound—
أَنَّكَ تَعصي اللَهَ تَبغي الغِنى
وَلَستَ تَعصي اللَهَ كَي تَفتَقِر
is this: you disobey God in pursuit of wealth,
yet you do not disobey God in order to become poor.
