May God reward Ṣāliḥ on my behalf for his fidelity,
and I shall repay him many times over in return.
After him, I tested other men by the measure of his friendship,
yet I only grew more eager for his companionship.
A true friend: whenever I came asking him for a favor,
I returned with what I sought, my face’s water—my dignity—still intact.
