أَراني صالِحٌ بُغضاً

فَأَظهَرتُ لَهُ بُغضا

I saw Saleh harboring hatred

So I showed him hatred

وَلا وَاللَهِ لا يَنقُ

ضُ إِلّا زِدتُهُ نَقضا

No, by God, it will not abate

Except I increase his breach

وَإِلّا زِدتُهُ مَقتاً

وَإِلّا زِدتُهُ رَفضا

Except I increase his hatred

Except I increase his rejection

أَلا يا مُفسِدَ الوُدِّ

وَقَد كانَ لَهُ مَحضا

Oh you who corrupt affection

Though it was sincere for him

تَغَضَّبتَ مِنَ الريحِ

فَما أَطلُبَ أَن تَرضى

You got angry at the wind

So I do not seek that you be pleased

لَئِن كانَ لَكَ المالُ ال

مُصَفّى إِنَّ لي عِرضا

If you have wealth untainted

I surely have honor
