وَعَظتَكَ أَجداثٌ خُفُت

فيهِنَّ أَجسادٌ سُبُت

Your lessons are new graves dug,

In them are bodies kept still.

وَتَكَلَّمَت لَك بِالبِلى

مِنهُنَّ أَلسِنَةُ صُمُت

And the worn tells you,

From them tongues of the silent.

وَأَرَتكَ قَبرَكَ في القُبو

رِ وَأَنتَ حَيٌّ لَم تَمُت

And it showed you your grave in the graves,

While you are alive, you did not die,

وَكَأَنَّني بِكَ عَن قَريـ

ـبٍ رَهنَ حَتفٍ لَم يَفُت

And it is as if I see you from near,

A hostage of death inescapable.
