وَلي فُؤادٌ إِذا طالَ العَذابُ بِهِ
هامَ اِشتِياقاً إِلى لُقيا مُعَذِّبِهِ
And I have a heart that, when torment wears long upon it,
goes mad with yearning to meet the one who torments it.
يَفديكَ بِالنَفسِ صَبٌّ لَو يَكونُ لَهُ
أَعَزُّ مِن نَفسِهِ شَيءٌ فَداكَ بِهِ
A lovesick lover would ransom you with his very life; if he had
anything dearer than himself, he would ransom you with it.
