1. ما أَشَدَّ المَوتَ جِدّاً وَلَكِن

    ما وَراءَ المَوتِ حَقّاً أَشَدُّ

    How severe indeed is death—but

    what lies beyond death is, in truth, more severe.

  2. كُلُّ حَيٍّ ضاقَتِ الأَرضُ عَنهُ

    سَوفَ يَكفيهِ مِنَ الأَرضِ لَحدُ

    Every living person for whom the earth has grown too narrow

    will find a grave-niche of earth enough.

  3. كُلُّ مَن ماتَ سَها الناسُ عَنهُ

    لَيسَ بَينَ الحَيِّ وَالمَوتُ وُدُّ

    Everyone who dies passes from people’s minds;

    between the living and death, there is no love.
