    The gray in my hair appeared and became plain,

    after diversion, youth, and merriment.

    So we amused ourselves and lived in delight; but then

    death left no joy to anyone endowed with understanding.

    يَنبَغي لِلدينِ أَن لا يُطَّرَح

    O children of Adam, safeguard your faith;

    faith ought not to be cast aside.

    بِنَبيٍّ قامَ فيكُم فَنَصَح

    And praise God, who honored you

    with a Prophet who arose among you and gave sincere counsel;

    with a Prophet through whom God opened

    every good you have attained, and made it plain.

    A Messenger—were all humankind weighed against him

    in piety and righteousness, they would prove light, and he would outweigh them.

    For the Messenger of God is most worthy of the heights,

    and the Messenger of God is most worthy of praise.
