أَرِقتُ وَطارَ عَن عَيني النُعاسُ

وَنامَ السامِرونَ وَلَم يُواسوا

I was awake while the eyelids of others fell heavy with sleep,

And the guards slumbered though danger remained.

أَمينَ اللَهِ أَمنُكَ خَيرُ أَمنٍ

عَلَيكَ مِنَ التُقى فيهِ لِباسُ

O trustee of God, your safety is the best safety -

Your piety clothes you with protection.

تُساسُ مِنَ السَماءِ بِكُلِّ بِرٍّ

وَأَنتَ بِهِ تَسوسُ كَما تُساسُ

You are looked after from the heavens for your righteousness,

While looking after others as you yourself are looked after.

كَأَنَّ الخَلقَ رُكِّبَ فيهِ روحٌ

لَهُ جَسَدٌ وَأَنتَ عَلَيهِ راسُ

It is as if the creation were given a spirit within you -

A body for which you are the head.

أَمينَ اللَهِ إِنَّ الحَبسَ بَأسٌ

وَقَد أَرسَلتَ لَيسَ عَلَيكَ باسُ

O trustee of God, imprisonment is difficult indeed,

Yet no harm will reach you from it.
