The memory of her has brought me grief,

And so tears fall from my eyes like a stream.

Such is love - it brings its companion

Sorrow and melancholy it would seem.

The best one to hope for, the most generous,

Is a king whom all Arabs obey.

And it's right that he be obeyed

One whose father was the Prophet's uncle.
