1. لَيسَ يَرجو اللَهَ إِلّا خائِفٌ

    مَن رَجا خافَ وَمَن خافَ رَجا

    None hopes in God except one who fears

    Whoever hopes, fears, and whoever fears, hopes

  2. قَلَّما يَنجو امرُؤٌ مِن فِتنَةٍ

    عَجَباً مِمَّن نَجى كَيفَ نَجا

    Seldom does a man escape from ordeal

    How strange is he who escaped—how did he escape?

  3. تَرغَبُ النَفسُ إِذا رَغَّبتَها

    وَإِذا زَجَّيتَ بِالشَيءِ زَجا

    The soul inclines wherever you incline it

    And flows easily into whatever channel you direct it
