يا عَلِيَّ بنَ ثابِتٍ أَينَ أَنتا

أَنتَ بينَ القُبورِ حَيثُ دُفِنتا

O Ali son of Thabit, where are you

You are among the graves where you were buried

يا عَلِيَّ بنَ ثابِتٍ بانَ مِنّي

صاحِبٌ جَلَّ فَقدُهُ يَومَ بِنتا

O Ali son of Thabit, a companion has departed from me

Whose absence I felt painfully since we bonded

يا شَريكي في الخَيرِ يَرحَمُكَ اللا

هُ فَنِعمَ الشَريكُ في الخَيرِ كُنتا

O my partner in good, may God have mercy on you

What a good partner in good you were

قَد لَعَمري حَكيتَ لي غُصَصَ المَو

تِ وَحَرَّكَتني لَها وَسَكَنتا

By my life, you have described to me the agonies of death

And you have agitated me towards it and calmed me
