يا أَحسَنَ الناسِ ريقاً غَيرَ مُختَبِرٍ

إِلّا شَهادَةَ أَطرافِ المَساويكِ

O fairest of people in appearance, not tested

Except by the testimony of the ends of the tent-poles,

قَد زُرتِني مَرَّةً في الدَهرِ واحِدَةً

ثَنّي وَلا تَجعَليها بَيضَةَ الديكِ
