المَوتُ لا والِداً يُبقي وَلا وَلَدا
وَلا صَغيراً وَلا شَيخاً وَلا أَحَدا
Death spares no father, nor son
Neither child, nor elder, nor anyone
كانَ النَبِيُّ فَلَم يَخلُد لِأُمَّتِهِ
لَو خَلَّدَ اللَهُ حَيّاً قَبلَهُ خَلَدا
The Prophet was, yet did not live forever for his nation
Had God granted him eternal life before, he would have lived eternally
لِلمَوتِ فينا سِهامٌ غَيرُ مُخطِئَةٍ
مَن فاتَهُ اليَومَ سَهمٌ لَم يَفُتهُ غَدا
For death, we are but unerring targets
He who escapes its arrow today, will not escape tomorrow
ما ضَرَّ مَن عَرَفَ الدُنيا وَغِرَّتَها
أَلّا يُنافِسَ فيها أَهلَها أَبَدا
It harms not he who knows this world and its deception
That he never competes with its people ever
