We passed by Malik and discovered there
A generous soul, to noble virtues bred;
He cares not if a dreadful guest arrives,
Or Gog’s own hordes, from behind the Dam, were fed.
Then we arrived at Sa'id bin Salm’s door,
To find his guests from hunger cast about;
As for his bread, God shields you from its sight
As long as stars in heaven still shine out.
It is as though the ring of Solomon,
The son of David, seals it tight and fast;
So from the first, we traveled on with praise,
But fled with heavy censure from the last.
