1. At the door of Sayyid al-Mahdi, my shaykh,

    I sought refuge with the sorrowing lover’s lament.

  2. I set my tears flowing, seeking protection,

    And filled the surrounding air with sobs.

  3. And I am, as Time itself beholds me,

    A stranger who sought shelter with the wondrous Ghawth.

  4. The intercession of God’s saints is true;

    It has come in an explicit text from the Beloved himself.

  5. I know with certainty that this calamity will be erased,

    And every flame that has risen high will die.

  6. Al-Hadi’s charge will burst forth before all eyes,

    Plain to those near and to strangers alike.

  7. The renegade will be shamed, the aggressor humbled,

    And God will bring the relief that is near.
