1. The Beloved’s household are the stranger’s protectors,

    the sun of being, full moons of felicity;

  2. of mighty station and a nature sound,

    with merciful hearts, prestige, and generosity;

  3. noble in character, gracious in temperament,

    great in benefactions, great in ancestry;

  4. men of Hadith, men of jihad,

    men of bowing, men of prostration.

  5. Theirs is the way of pardon and forgiveness, and the lofty—

    —stations, and valor that has upheld the bounds.

  6. They are masters of favor and masters of retribution:

    favor to the hopeful and the protected guest, vengeance on the envious aggressor.

  7. Humble before God, at His gate—a gate of ma—

    —jesty; and in war, fierce lions.

  8. The station of their worth has risen high,

    above the very crown of the loftiest heads.

  9. The perfumed sweetness of their renown spread abroad,

    taking form throughout the cosmos despite all denial.

  10. For their gates are the confluence of the seas of deli—

    —verance, and for safety an everlasting home.

  11. Chiefs of chiefs, the very eyes of all eye—

    —s; nobles of nobles, the path of witnessing.

  12. A refuge for the fugitive, succor for servants,

    the poor man’s pillar, sanctuary for all who come;

  13. every distinction of theirs is glorious and praiseworthy—

    such are the gifts of the All-Generous, the All-Loving.
