الى حلب الشهباء ثار بنا الوجد

وطال علينا الهجر يا مي والبعد

To Aleppo the radiant, our passion was ignited

And our separation has been prolonged, O Mays of glory and distance

فدمع لهاتيك البقاع هو الحيا

نسلسله سحا ونار لها وقد

So my tears for those lands is my living

A chain ablaze and fire that has spread

لنا في رباها عهد ود مكرم

وان من الايمان ان يحفظ الود

We have a covenant of friendship and generosity with her people

And it is faithfulness to safeguard that friendship

ونذكر للود القديم رقائقا

ويشرف شأن المجد اذ يذكر الود

And we recall gentle moments of past friendship

And the status of glory rises when friendship is recalled

ليال بباب الاحمر ازدان عتمها

بنور التقى والذكر يبهج والود

Nights at Bab al-Ahmar, its darkness adorned

With the light of piety, remembrance gladdens friendship

وحضرة حال القوم فالحسن الرضا

ابو البركات القرم سيدها الفرد

And the honorable company of the people, so the finest contentment

Abu al-Barakat al-Qaram, its unique master

وفي بانقوساء الحمى كان صدره

عليّ ابن خير الله من طوره الجد

And in Baniyas the zeal, his breast was

Ali ibn Khayr Allah from his lofty dignity

وفي قرلق طه وبياضة السنى

بها لبهاء الدين قد لألأ السعد

And in Qarluq Tah and Bayyadah al-Sinni

In it the brilliance of faith has glittered with joy

افاضل من آل الرفاعي شأنهم

رفيع فنعم الآل يا ميّ والجد

Nobles from the family of Rifa’i, their status

Is sublime, so excellent O Mays is this family and bravery

وشأن بني الكيال لم ينس فخره

لهم بالرفاعي الترفع والمجد

And the status of the sons of al-Kayyal has not forgotten their pride

To them through Rifa’i is nobility and glory

اولئك هم قومي فجئني بمثلهم

اذا لم يجاوز حقه الاخذ والرد

Those are my people, so bring me their like

If truth does not exceed its due of taking and giving
