لسراج الأنبيا حامي النزيل

زكريا صاحب العزم الحصور

To the prophets’ lamp, protector of the one who seeks lodging—

Zechariah, possessor of resolve, the self-restrained.

جئت أشكو وهو غياث الدخيل

وشهير أنه المولى الغيور

I have come to complain—and he is the succor of one who seeks refuge,

renowned as the protective, ardent patron.

بعريض الذنب مني والطويل

لذت في أعتبابه دار الحضور

Bearing my own sin, vast and drawn-out,

I sought sanctuary at his thresholds, the abode of presence.

ها عدوي قد شفى مني الغليل

وبقدحي جهرة أملي السطور

Behold, my enemy has slaked his rancor upon me

and, openly maligning me, has dictated the lines.

وأبو يحيى شفا القلب العليل

ونبي بابه باب السرور

And Abu Yahya has healed the ailing heart—

a prophet whose gate is the gate of joy.

وهو بين الأنبيا شهم جليل

وله باع طويل في الأمور

Among the prophets he is noble and magnanimous,

and his reach is long in all affairs.

أملي في رحبه اللطف الجميل

حاصل والضد تشويه الشرور

My hope in his spacious court—gracious kindness—

is fulfilled, while the foe is marred by evil.

فعله من ندا الرب الجليل

صلوات بيد الفضل تدور

His action springs from the bounty of the majestic Lord.

May blessings, borne round by the hand of grace,

وعلى أولاده الحزب النبيل

ما انجلت في باب علياه الصدور

rest also upon his descendants, the noble company,

so long as hearts find relief at the gate of his exaltedness.
