مرضت لوجهها الهفا وشوقا

فصارت رحمة هي لي مريضه

I grew sick with yearning for her radiant face,

So my sickness became a mercy for my ailing heart.

وقد صبرت على المرضين كبرا

على أن لا ترى عندي مريضه

And though I have bravely borne these two afflictions,

Do not let her see me in this wretched state.
