كتمت عن الصديق صحيح حالي

وعرفت العدو كما استحقا

I hid my true state from a friend

And made known to the foe what was meet

فأبصرني الصديق بغيرهم

وخصمي في عدواته ترقى

So my friend discerned me with other than them

While my adversary rose through enmity
