سهام هواك صائبة المرامي

وتجرحني وراميها مرامي

The arrows of your love strike true

And wound me though you did not aim them

فعيني عن سواك لها انكفاف

وسمعي فيك صم عن الملام

So my eyes turn away from all but you

And my hearing of blame is deaf towards you

تكلمني فتشبعني كلوما

وقد تدمى الكلوم من الكلام

You speak and satisfy me with rebuke

Though much rebuke wounds with its speech

وكم ابكي لاجلك عن ولوع

ولم ار منك غير الابتسام

How much I weep for you out of yearning

Yet I see from you only a smile

لقد اعرضت يا مولاي عني

كاعراض الزمان عن الكرام

Truly, my Master, you have turned away from me

Like the turning away of time from generosity

اهيم اليك يقلقني ولوهي

ويسكرني هواك بلا مدام

I rave madly for you though confused

Intoxicated by your love without limit

ويبرز عاذلي بك لي مسيئا

بروز الشيخ في طور الغلام

My critic appears to blame me for loving you

Appearing like an old man among the youth

اكاتم فيك حسادي ارجي

دواء الداء من قلب السقام

I conceal from my enviers hoping

To cure sickness from the heart of the ill

ازمزم للعراق ركاب وجدي

اليك وانت تتهم للشآم

I prepare my camel for Iraq though you blame

And you glance towards Damascus

وتلحظني على قرب بعين

تغز بمهجتي نصل الحسام

You look at me closely with an eye

That pierces my intellect like a sword

وتبعدني وانت لدي دان

اذا انا خائض في الماء ظالمي

You distance me though I am near

As if I wade in darkness, my guide

ورب ممحض لي بعض نصح

احر على الفؤاد من الضرام

How many pure counsels scorch my heart

More than embers, advising I leave your love

يعالجني بترك هواك علما

بأن هواك انحل لي عظامي

Knowing that your love melted my bones

Yet I turned away, raging camel upon raging camel

وعن شمم لقد اعرضت عنه

وجلجلت الهيام على الهيام

When has a true lover slept sound

From the advice of other people?

متى كان المحب صحيح حب

انام الطرف عن نصح الانام

Yes, I will not lack the kindness of a blessing

That helps me endure passionate love

ونعم لا عدمت وداد نعم

تساعدني على لهف الغرام

It warns me against the vile and the suspicious

To avoid the noble mixing with the vile

تحذرني اللئام وحسو سم

مقاربة الكرام من اللئام

Gently, O crescent-faced moon gently

With an eye whose light equals the full moon

بعينك يا شقيق البدر رفقا

بعان كل عن حمل الحزام

Let your spear abstain from love

In my heart are doves constantly cooing

له في القلب آهات طوال

به التفت كاطواق الحمام

Kiss from your cheeks the rose's smile

Dawning without modesty

لقد خنت الذمام فعد كريما

كريم الاصل راع اللذمام

And press the wine of your lips to me

In my heart turmoil and crowding

وحقك لم اخن في الحب عهدا

ولو صورعت بالموت الزؤام

The dew of your forehead is a shining light

Revealing the dawn, dispelling the darkness

نسيت عهود وصل قد تقضت

وانت نزيل خدري في خيامي

Your figure looms tall in the heart's expanse

And your worth in the mind's essence is sublime

تعاطيني مدام الثغر نجلى

لدي كجلوة البدر التمام

You have made time capricious towards me

Though you have kept me bound in longing

واقطف من خديدك زهر ورد

تبسم في رباه بلا احتشام

I see you have counted me as insignificant

And measured the shoe though it has no awl

والوي رمح قدك عن غرام

له في القلب زمزمة ازدحام

You have chosen in place of the wise one, an ignorant man

Who fights in battle with ruin

والثم من جبينك لوح نور

فاجلو الفجر من سجف الظلام

The love of the high-minded is for the lofty

And the love of the lowly is for the fallen

وشخصك في رحاب القلب عال

وقدرك في لباب السر سامي

When an ignoble person joins the noble

He becomes the target of blame for every critic

فاثرت الزمان علي طيشا

وقد ابقيتني رهن الخمام

You have cut the ropes of the one whose heart you gave

Flipping in love ceaselessly

اراك عددتني بحساب زيد

وقست الخف وهما بالسنام

And you have become a tribe of vile rabble

You will see what this rabble does

ومن عوض الحسيب اختار خبا

يقاتل في العريكة بالكهام

My fervor is not humbled, not to anything lowly

Even if my life extends a thousand years

وحب اولي المعالي للاعالي

وحب اولي الدنايا للحطام

My love's lament is like you see me

The way the resolute enter into darkness

متى صحب العلي دني اصل

غدى هدف الملام لكل رام

I die, my fervor is my fervor

For whom I love, my fire and my fuel

قطعت حبال من اهداك قلبا

تقلب في هواك على اضطرام

How can the bold fear the stricken of death

The lofty souls are above the vile

وصرت عشير انذال طغام

ستبصر ما يكون من الطغام

Time has been unjust so it has transgressed

Neglectful of vigilance and sleep

وجدي لا اذل الى دني

ولو يزداد عمري الف عام

It is confused, knowing no steady path

Stumbling whether sitting or standing

وشكواي الغرام كما تراني

دخول اولي العزائم في القتام

For the ignorance of time regarding ones like me

Some of its traits are pitch black

اموت ووجدي الضرام وجدي

بمن اهوى وناري واصطلامي

While I am of the purest noble lineage

Branches rising high on the family tree

وكيف يخاف صرع الموت قرم

نجيب من اولي الهمم السوامي

From the white of face are suns of glory

The honored ones in the Sacred House

لحا الله الزمان فقد تعدى

وافرط بالتنبه والمنام

Following their grandfather, moons of faith

To distinguish the lawful from the forbidden

هو الحرباء لم تعرف بلون

تخبط في القعود وفي القيام

Mountain lions of guidance you see them

As imams taking the place of the Imam

لان جهل الزمان بشأن مثلي

فبعض خصاله السود التعامي

He stands by their order, a mighty lion

Inheriting the jungle of the mighty lions

واني من اولي الشرف المصفى

طوال الفرع في آل التهامي

They narrated the knowledge of the Prophet

From Ali, the successor of Mustafa, lion of crowds

من البيض الوجوه شموس مجد

كرام البيت في البيت الحرام

The father of the two grandsons, brilliant guide

And opponent of armies in the contest

اتواعن جدهم اقمار دين

لتمييز الحلال عن الحرام

From him came to the towering Rafi’i

Clouds of overwhelming favor and blessing

شأبيب جبال هدى تراهم

اماما ناب عن فرد امام

Received by the rights of a father and grandfather

A continuous succession of honor

يقوم بنظمهم اسد همام

تورث غابة الاسد الهمام

He took them on and the people's leader became

Elevated in station amongst them

رووا علم النبوة عن علي

وصي المصطفى ليث الزحام

And Taha's extended hand he humbled

Despite his arrogance, every eyebrow

ابي السبطين بارقة التجلي

وخصام الكتائب في الخصام

And the captor of hearts, Abu Ali

Followed him leading with strong resolve

تدلى منه للغوث الرفاعي

سحاب الفضل والنعم الجسام

Signs of glory came to us from him

Recited in the script of the Khuza'im

تلقاها حقوق اب وجد

مسلسلة مكرمة النظام

Abu Al-Barakat composed them with style

For the resting place of glory and a sealed end

فقام بها وساد القوم طرا

وفيهم صار مرفوع المقام

They in order are my father and grandfather

My grandfather among the generous ones

وطاطأ بعد مد يمين طه

له رغم المكابر كل هام

So turn back to affection, O most beloved and be gentle

For nothing endures beyond the Guardian

وصياد القلوب ابو علي

تلاه يميس بالهمم الضخام

اتتنا عنه آيات المعالي

ترتل في صحاف بني خزام

ابو البركات هذبها بطرز

لراح المجد مسكي الختام

اولئك في النظام ابي وجدي

وجد ابي كرام من كرام

فعد للود يا حباه وارفق

فما لسوى المهيمن من دوام
