دعنا من الاضغاث والاحلام

فحوادث الايام طيف منام

Let us leave illusions and dreams behind,

For the events of days are a mirage of sleep.

وانزل بنا برحاب سادات الحمى

غر الوجوه ايمة الاسلام

And descend with us in the courtyards of the masters of zeal,

The bright-faced leaders of Islam.

آل النبي الهاشمي المصطفى

شرف الوجود وصفوة العلام

The family of the Hashimite Prophet Mustafa,

The nobility of existence and elite of the scholars.

وعليك منهم بالاكابر من بني ال

صياد شمس سماء قطر الشام

And upon you, their elders, the family of

The hunter, sun of the Levantine sky.

وانزل حمى رجب الولي المرتجى

يوم الوغا للنقض والابرام

And descend, sanctuary of the ally, the hoped intercessor,

On the day of crisis, for annulment and resolution.

عالي الجناب فتى الرجال كبيرهم

ذو العزم والبرهان والالهام

The chivalrous youth, the greatest of men,

Of determination, proof, and inspiration.

شبل الرفاعي الامام المقتدى

فلك المفاخر ذي المقام السامي

Shibl the Rafai, the leading imam,

For you are the prides, of the sublime position.

رحب الذراع ابي اليد البيضاء من

يرجى لكشف نوائب الايام

Vast of arm, my father of the white hand, he from whom,

Deliverance from the adversities of days is hoped.

واقصد ابا البركات فياض الندى

علم المعالي بضعة الاعلام

And seek Abu al-Barakat, abundant of bounty,

The flag of glories, choicest of the banners.

حسن الخلال السيد الجحجاح في

آل الوصي الاورع المقدام

Beauty of nature, the Sayyid al-Juhhjah, of

The family of the trustee, most devout of the intrepid.

وادي المكارم فجر طالعة العلا

حامى العشيرة يا له من حامي

The valley of bounties, dawn of the rising sublimity,

Protector of the clan—what a protector indeed!

ليث اذا حمي الوطيس فلذ به

وهناك تبصر هزة الصمصام

A lion whom, when the battle ignited, held fast,

And there you see the brandishing of swords.

ذو غيرة عربية قرشية

علوية الاخوال والاعمام

Of Arab zeal, Qurashite descent,

Alawite uncles and cousins.

غيث يغيث اللائذين وسيد

كم فاض عن كرم ببحر طام

A downpour that brings relief to refugees, and the lord

Whose generosity overflowed like a surging sea.

وادخل رحاب علي السامي الذرى

شيخ المشايخ ثابت الاقدم

And enter the sanctuary of Ali the Sublime, the radiant,

Shaykh of shaykhs, steadfast of foot.

كنز المناقب تاج ارباب الوحا

والنير المجلى بكل مقام

Treasure of virtues, crown of the masters of love,

And the brilliant star in every position.

مولى اذا حاضرته في حادث

ابصرت منه خلائق الضرغام

My master, if you attend to an event,

You see in him the traits of the noble.

شيخ له قلب فعول عضبه

كم رد وجه الخصم يوم خصام

A shaykh whose heart is like a lion’s,

How many times has he repelled a disputant in contention!

بشراك يا قلبي فقومي سادة

زهر الجباه ضياء كل ظلام

Rejoice, my heart, for the masters are

The blossoms of brows, the light of all darkness.

هم هؤلاء ثلاثة ابوابهم

فيها المنى وطوائف الانعام

They are these three doors, in them

Is purpose, and kinds of blessings.

ابناء صياد القلوب ايمة

نفحاتهم ترياق كل سقام

The sons of the hunter of hearts, the leaders

Whose breaths are cure for all sickness.

اقمار سمك المكرمات وكلهم

بين الرجال كاشخ الاعلام

Planets of the constellation of bounties, all of them

Among men like the towering sign.

شم الانوف اولوا السيوف اذا دجا

ليل الحروب بمعتم طمطام

Keen of scent, possessors of swords, who when

The night of battles grew dark with confusion and clamor,

قطعوا اليالي بالقيام لربهم

وقد انقضت ايامهم بصيام

Passed the nights standing in worship of their Lord,

And their days had gone by fasting.

وجلوا بذكر الله كل ثقيلة

من ظلمة مكفوفة بقتام

They made burdensome darkness easier

With God’s remembrance and recitation of the Quran.

وبنوا جدار الخارقات وجددوا

عهد النبي وعهد كل امام

And they built the wall of wonders and renewed

The covenant of the Prophet and every imam.

فبسرهم اعلو واقهر حسدي

ولعمري الارحام للارحام

So by their secret I rise high and conquer my envy—

By my life, wombs are for wombs!

آه على شهبائهم وربوعها

ورياض ذاك الموطن البسام

Ah for their comets and meadows,

And the gardens of that fragrant abode.

قاع زهت ببني النبي فاشرقت

رغما لعين الحاسد المتعامي

The land shone radiantly with the Prophet’s sons,

Defiantly against the eye of the arrogant.

يا سادتي بحياتكم لا تقطعوا

لثقيل اوزاري حبال ذمامي

My masters, by your lives do not sever

For this heavy burden of mine, the reins of my mount.

وتوجهوا المحمد ولآله

بصلاح احوالي وصون مقامي

And turn to Muhammad and his family

To better my state and guard my position.

انا شبلكم والليث يحرس شبله

شمما وعنه كما يشاء يحامي

I am your cub, and the lion guards his cub,

Let him sniff about and protect as he wishes!

اين الايادي البيض والهمم التي

فاضت عوارفها لكل همام

Where are the white hands and resolves that

Poured their bounties for every matter of import?

غوثاه يا آل البتول فانكم

خفقت بكم بين الملا اعلامي

Rescue, O People of the Virgin, for you

Are the banners that wave between adversaries.

حاضرتكم بقصيدة مضمونها

مدح وعرض الحال مسك ختام

I am present with a poem whose content is

Praise, stating my case, the seal of musk.
