كم لِي نَجْرِي

وكانَ جَرْيي لِعِنْدِي

How long my running is,

And my running was to my beloved,

أمْرٌ ثابتْ

وَسِرُّ سِرِّي وَجْدِي

A resolved matter,

And the secret of my secret and my love.

فَمَن جَا يَرُومْ

تَبِنْ لُو رُسومْ

So whoever comes wanting

To understand its ways,

ويَتْحَصَّلْ على رَشْحٍ قليلْ مِنْ مرادي

وبِهْ تُكْتَب تراجيمُ العبادْ

And get a little bit of my purpose,

By it the fates of people are written.

كُلّ واقفْ

لسْ واللهِ يبرُزْ بِحِيلَهْ

Everyone is standing still,

By God, he does not come out with his tricks,

لاِحْتِبَاسُوا

جَهْلاً بأوَّلْ فتِيلَهْ

Do not be fooled,

Ignorant of its first wick,

وَلَوْ يَبْقَى سارِي

ويَقْطَعْ براري

And if it remains ablaze,

And cuts off passages,

يَقُلْ ما وَرَادَ وَارِي

دَوَارْ في اعتقادي

It says what is behind the shelter,

Revolving in my belief,

وذاكَ المُقام مقام كلِّ بادِي

كُلِّ عارفْ يَعْرِفْ

And that state is the state of every manifest one.

Every knower knows,

بأنْ لَسْ هُ وَاصِلْ

ولا يَقنعْ بأشْ ما وَجَدْ

That he is no reaches,

And is not content with whatever he found,

عِنْدُو حاصلْ

وَيخْطُرْ لُو يُحْكي

By him realized,

And crosses his mind to narrate,

بِوَهْمُوا المَكِّي

كمجنون لَيْلَى عَلَى كُلِّ وادِي

With his imaginary desire,

Like Layla's madman in every valley,

ينوحُ وَيبْكي ألَمَ الْبِعَادِ

لو تَرَانِي نَتِهْ

Crying and weeping the pain of distance,

If you could see me complete,

عَلَيَّا ونزهو

حِينْ أَخَذْنِي بالامْتِنَانْ

When he took me gently,

Dying from him,

مُتُّ مِنْوُا

وَلاَ طَفَنِي عِنيَّ

And he did not neglect me,

While I sing him,

وَانَا بِهْ نُغَنِّي

أُشَاهِدْ مِنْهُ في سِرِّي التَّجَلِّي مُرَادِي

I witness his manifestation in my secret, my purpose,

And I delight in my nearness to him in the heart.

وأتْنَعَّمْ بِقَرْبِي مِنهُ في الْفُؤَادِ
