لما رأيتُ وُشَاةَ الحيِّ ترصُدُنا

بأعيُنٍ لا عَدَاها غَائِلُ الرَّمَدِ

When I saw the neighborhood spies stalking us

With eyes that could pierce the thickest veil

جَعَلْتُ لا مِنْ قِلَىً مِنِّي أزورُكُمُ

آناً وأهجرُكُمْ بِضْعاً من الأَبَدِ

I decided to visit you all sometimes

And avoid you for some of eternity
