O wanderer lost in ignorance
O you who wander heedless in your error,
O you standing atop the rubble of fronts
O you who stand upon the ruins of crushed brows,
Wait, for in the groans of those you persecuted
Take heed! For in the groans of those you trampled,
Is a terrible voice whose echo will roar
Is a dreadful voice whose echo shall resound.
Do not feel secure from fate though it slumbers
Do not feel safe from Fate because it sleeps,
In its darkening cave with visions prolonged
Within its dark cave, while its visions stretch out long;
For if today and what preceded it pass
For if today and all the past have perished,
Tomorrow's dawn brings the morn of life
In the living tomorrow lies the dawn of life.
O tyrant, do not slight
O tyrant, do not look with scorn,
For truth is a tyrant, far-reaching
For Truth is a giant of enduring patience;
It slumbers, yet in its eyelids is an awakening
It slumbers, yet within its eyelids a wakefulness remains,
Yearning for the dawn you cannot see
Gazing at the dawn you cannot see.
