    O victor, rejoice in victory

And don the finest garb of support

And enjoy the shade of auspice bearing

The sweetest fruit from the tree of desire

Return at dawn, after many a lonely night

Spent yearning for the joy of your company

When you were near, living was sweet

Fragrant with friendship, radiant each dawn

Whenever he wished, he could behold

    A moon's nature in a Perseus' form

While without you he restless lies

    Complaining to the lingering night

Tell our cupbearer to fill our cups

And our singer to string his tune

Drunken, we are, on the wine of your name

Not the drunkenness that makes one reel

My sickness has left me no respite

Though I have remained stoic throughout

O walker of the eloquent pulpit

Accompany the season if it turns to wine

By the one whom if he were to allow

Continued joy found far and wide

And when he reproached for a fault

His side of tolerance bent easy

My verse offered to the most eloquent

Who has crafted magic in prose or poem

For him the example forever remains

Of bringing dates to the land of dearth

Except the excuse is clear to see

When longing breaks out in complaint

Then a servant was granted success

As the Master's favor he did thank

    None but your fortune determining

The judge of all its sides

And sip the wine of content by a king

Whose pleasure you sought in your deeds

When you marched against his enemies

Deaf to the words of detractors

A flood poured over them from above

Once their drink, now their grave

They preceded people, so from you prayed

    Whoever saw their traces, desiccate

You two adorned the days as you reigned

With a torrent of boons flowing free

So remain in a kingdom so empowered

Some of whose borders are decreed by fate

    Subduing the arrogant, uprooting oppression

Staying the despot, aiding the weak

Guiding the lost, comforting the worried

Informing the confused, enlightening the blind

    Eras smile at your heights

As a meadow does at a flower
