قَد أَحسَنَ اللَهُ في الَّذي صَنَعَه

عارِضُ كَربٍ بِلُطفِهِ رَفَعَه

God has done well in what He has made

Relieving affliction with His kindness

تَبارَكَ اللَهُ إِنَّ عادَةَ حُس

ناهُ مَعَ الشُكرِ غَيرُ مُنتَزَعَه

Blessed is God, truly the nature of good fortune

Along with gratitude cannot be taken away

يا سَيِّدي المُستَبِدَّ مِن مِقَتي

بِخُطَّةٍ فاتَتِ الحِسابَ سَعَه

O my master who controls me with disdain

With a plan that eluded reckoning

وافانيَ العِقدُ زينَ ناظِمُهُ

وَالوَشيُ لا راعَ حادِثٌ صَنَعَه

The sequence adorned me, its arranger

And intimacy - no incident made it

بَثَثتَ فيهِ البَديعَ مُنتَقِياً

كَالرَوضِ إِذ بَثَّ في الرُبى قِطَعَه

You have scattered in it fine selections

As a garden when it has scattered its sections

أَزاحَ كَربَ الدَواءِ مَطلَعُهُ

لَمّا بَدا طالِعُ السُرورِ مَعَه

Its emergence dispelled the affliction of remedy

When the auspicious star rose with it

كَم دَعوَةٍ قَد حَواهُ صالِحَةٍ

مِن أَمَلي أَن تَكونَ مُستَمَعَه

How many good prayers it contained

From my hopes that you would hear them

جُملَةُ ما نَفسِكَ السَرِيَّةُ مِن حا

لي إِلى عِلمِ كُنهِهِ طُلَعَه

The totality of what your soul secretly

From my state to the knowledge of its essence perceived

أَنَّ الدَواءَ اِلتَذَّت عَواقِبَهُ

مِنِّيَ نَفسٌ تَشَبَّعَت جُرَعَه

That the remedy - its consequences have settled

A soul that drank its draught

فَالحَمدُ لِلَّهِ لا شَريكَ لَهُ

إِن بَدَأَ الطَولَ مُنعِماً شَفَعَه

So praise be to God, who has no partner

If He began the height, favoring it He coupled.
