The strokes of fate have wearied you,
The calamities of the world have wearied you with their arrows
Do not despair, for their stay will not be long.
Do not despair, for their stay shall not be long
It does not dishonor you, rather it adorns you, their assault,
Its affliction does not disgrace you, but rather adorns you
For lightning adorns the heavy rain clouds.
For indeed, the full moons are graced by their veiling clouds
Bear lightly that you have been detained out of no suspicion,
Console yourself, for you were not imprisoned out of suspicion
For the resting places of lions are their dens.
Truly, the natural abodes of lions are their dens
They have veiled your bright face from the gaze of creation,
They veiled your radiant visage from the eyes of mankind
Lest its splendor and arrows should hurt you.
So that their arrows and darts might not cause you harm
Do you not see how birds are left neglected in the wild,
Do you not see how wild birds are left alone to roam
Deserted, their feathers plucked, their tufts ruffled?
Ignored, while the gentle doves and pigeons are hunted?
In Joseph's prison is a model for the innocent,
In the prison of Joseph, there is an exemplar for the innocent
So humiliations will gentle descend upon you.
So make light of your hardships, and their burden will be easy to bear
Are you anything but a blossom or a light,
Are you anything but a flower or a blossom
That gave off fragrance, so they sheathed you with that veil?
That exuded fragrance, and thus was shielded by its calyxes?
