صَلاَةُ السَّمِيعِ الْعَلِيمْ

عَلَى مَنْ أَتَى فِي رَبِيعْ

The prayer of the All-Hearing, All-Knowing

The blessings of the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing,

Upon the one who came in the spring

Upon him who arrived in the month of Rabi',

فَأَكْرِمْ بِهِ مِنْ سَرِيعْ

لِدِينِ الْوَلِيِّ الْحَمِيدْ

So honor him with haste

How noble is he, who hastened so swiftly

For the religion of the Guardian, the Praiseworthy

To the faith of the Guardian, the Praiseworthy.

تُرَى هَلْ تَعُودُ السُّعُودْ

وَتُنْجَزُ تِلْكَ الْوُعُودْ

Will happiness return

I wonder, will the times of joy return?

And those promises be fulfilled

And will those promises be fulfilled?

وَيُورِقُ لِلْوَصْلِ عُودْ

ذَوَى بِعَقِيمِ الصُّدُودْ

And affection bloom

Will the branch of union sprout leaves once more,

After the barren estrangement

Having withered from the barrenness of estrangement?

وَتَجْمَعُنَا دُونَ بَاسْ

مَغَانِي التَّهَانِي بِفَاسْ

And gather us without harm

And will it gather us without hardship,

The songs of congratulations in Fes

In the joyful abodes of celebration in Fez,

تُحَيَّ بِوَرْدِ وَآسْ

بِأَكْنَافِ رَوْضٍ مَجُودْ

Greeted with roses and myrtle

Greeted with roses and myrtle,

In the meadow’s embrace

In the embrace of a lush, rain-watered garden?

وَيَجْمَعُنَا كُلُّ عِيدْ

وَكُلُّ زَمَانٍ سَعِيدْ

And may every feast

May every Eid gather us together,

And every blessed time

Along with every joyous occasion,

فَنَنْظِمُ فِيهِ الْقَصِيدْ

وَكُلَّ كَلاَمٍ مُفِيدْ

Inspire us to compose a poem

That we may compose poetry therein,

And every beneficial word

And every word of benefit.

وَنُنْشِدُ حُرَّ الْكَلاَمْ

وَنَنْسِقُ دُرَّ النِّظَامْ

And we recite free speech

We shall chant the noblest of speech,

And string together precious prose

And string together the pearls of verse,

وَنَكْشِفُ عَنَّا الظَّلاَمْ

بِنُورِ لُحُونِ النَّشِيدْ

And reveal from us the darkness

And dispel the darkness from ourselves

With the light of melodious chants

With the light of the chanting's melodies.

وَنُثْبِتُ حِلْيَ الْبَدِيعْ

بِتِيجَانِ شَهْرِ رَبِيعْ

And affirm the adornment of rhetorical eloquence

We shall affix the ornaments of wondrous rhetoric

With the crown of the month of spring

Upon the crowns of the month of Rabi',

وَمَوْلِدِ طَهَ الرَّفِيعْ

فَأَعْظِمْ بِهِ مِنْ وَدُودْ

And the birth of Taha the Sublime

And the birth of the exalted Taha;

So magnify him with affection

How magnificent is he, the deeply loving!

وَأَبْهَجَ نَفْسِي بِمَا

يُبَصِّرُهَا مِنْ عَمَى

And delight my soul with what

It has delighted my soul with that which

Enlightens it from blindness

Restores its sight from blindness,

وَيُورِدُهَا مِنْ ظَمَا

مَوَارِدَ لَيْسَتْ تَبِيدْ

And leads it from darkness

And leads it away from thirst

To springs that do not run dry

To watering places that never run dry.

مَوَارِدَ مَدْحِ الرَّسُولْ

مُحَمَّدٍ أَصْلِ الأُصُولْ

Springs of praising the Messenger

The watering places of praising the Messenger,

Muhammad, the source of sources

Muhammad, the root of all roots;

عَلَيْهِ صَلاَةٌ تَصُولْ

عَلَى صَلَوَاتِ الْعَبِيدْ

Upon him blessings that rise

Upon him be blessings that surpass

Above the prayers of servants

The blessings of all the servants.

عَلَيْهِ صَلاَةُ الإِلَهْ

صَلاَةً تُعَلِّي عُلاَهْ

Upon him the prayer of God

Upon him be the blessings of the Divine,

A prayer that elevates his supremacy

Blessings that elevate his eminence,

وَتُظْفِرُهُ مِنْ مَوْلاَهْ

بِكُلِّ طَوِيلٍ مَدِيدِ

And grants him victory from his Master

And grant him triumph from his Lord

With every long extension

With all that is vast and enduring.

عَلَيْهِ صَلاَةُ قَدِيمْ

حَبَاهُ بِخُلْقٍ عَظِيمْ

Upon him the ancient prayer

Upon him be the blessings of the Pre-Eternal,

Gifted him with mighty moral character

Who endowed him with a magnificent character,

وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ الْكَرِيمْ

بِهِ فِي الْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدْ

And the Generous praised him

And the Generous One praised him

For it in the Glorious Quran

For it within the Glorious Quran.

قُرَيْشِ وُلاَةُ الْحَطِيمْ

يَتِيمَةِ عِقْدِ الْوُجُودْ

Of Quraysh, governors of the Sacred House

Of Quraysh, the custodians of the Hatim,

Orphaned necklace of existence

The central, priceless pearl of existence's necklace.
