I spun tales with my frail body
I mirrored a phantom with my emaciated frame,
And longing dressed me in noble attire
And longing clothed me in the pale robe of twilight,
And I surrendered to one bending me
A young gazelle surrendered me to ruin,
Who bruises my heart with a smooth cheek
Carving my heart with a soft, flowing cheek,
And separation made me drink the cup of the bereaved
And parting forced me to swallow the cup of death,
So God suffices me, an excellent trustee
So God is sufficient for me, the most excellent Guardian.
