أَحِبِّي يَا شَمْسَ الْمَحَاسِنِ وَالصَّفَا

تَرَفَّقْ بِمَنْ أَمْسَى بِحُبِّكَ مُدْنِفَا

O my beloved, O sun of beauty and serenity,

Be gentle with one who wastes away in love for you,

وَأَطْفِئْ بِمَاءِ الْوَصْلِ فَإِنَّهُ

تَلَظَّى بِنِيرَانِ الْكَآبَةِ وَالْجَفَا

And extinguish the flame with the water of union, for indeed he

Blazes with the fires of sorrow and estrangement,

وَأَبْقِ حَيَاتِي فَهْيَ لِلدَّهْرِ زِينَةٌ

وَلاَ تَكُ يَا رُوحِي لِرُوحِي مُتْلِفَا

And preserve my life, for it is an adornment to time,

And do not be, O my soul, the destroyer of my soul.
