رَحَّبَتْ فِي النَّوْمِ ثُمَّتَ قَالَتْ
كَيْفَ أَنْتَ يَا سَيِّدِي وَحَبِيبِي
She welcomed me in slumber, and then she said,
"How are you, O my master and my beloved?"
وَأَبَاحَتْنِي مِنْ طُلاَهَا عِنَاقاً
وَارْتِشَافاً مِنْ ظَلْمِ ثَغْرٍ شَنِيبِ
She yielded her neck to my embrace,
And let me sip the cool dew of her bright-toothed mouth.
لَيْتَ شِعْرِي إِنْ قَدَّرَ اللهُ وَصْلاً
أَيَكُونُمِنْهَا كَذَاكَ نَصِيبِي
Would that I knew—if God decrees our union—
Will my share from her be just like that?
