يَا سَيِّدِي يَا أَبَا يَعْزَى الْهُمَامَ وَمَنْ
لَنَا عَلَيْهِ إِذَا جِئْنَاهُ إِكْرَامُ
O my master, O valiant Abu Ya'za, and the one
upon whom we rely for honor when we come to him,
أَكْرِمْ جَمَاعَتَنَا وَارْحَمْ ضَرَاعَتَنَا
أَوْ لَا فَمَطْلَبُنَا لِلْفَضْلِ لَوَّامُ
Honor our gathering and have mercy on our humble plea,
or else our quest for bounty will turn to bitter reproach.
وَلاَ يَكُنْ لَكَ إِنْ لَوْمٌ أَلَمَّ بِنَا
حَاشَا نَدَاكَ بِرَبْعِ الْمَطْلِ إِلْمَامُ
And let there not be for you, should blame afflict us,
any alighting at the encampment of delay—far be it from your grace!
