Even if a sun that appeared from the East has set,

There is a sun in the West, from the Sharqi lineage, that never sets.

It has its dawnings in the exalted Abu al-Ja'd,

With which it rivals the luminous sun on the horizon.

Come to it, O sons of Al-Hajj, for indeed it

Pours forth abundant rains of sustenance.

What a divine sun, raining down grace in heavy downpours,

Without reproach, its generosity far removed from any impurity.

Truly, it is the sun of virtues and eminence,

Truly, it is the sun of profound realities and the ultimate Truth.

Truly, it polishes the hearts free of their rust,

Just as flashing lightning clears away the still, dark night.

For this reason, this humble servant has come to Abu

Ubaid, the servant of the visitors who are bound in devotion,

Hoping for his generosity, for generosity is but the servant to his guest,

Seeking the rain of abundant grace and praying for his showers.

O clouds of generosity from the horizon of his palm,

Pour upon us the generosity of pure grace without dilution.

And shower us heavily with guidance and piety,

And quench our souls with spiritual knowledge and truthfulness.

And blow upon us, O breezes of his wisdom, with that by which

We may attain the winning prize among all creation.

By your exalted rank in the sight of Allah,

Reward my spoken words with what I have hoped for from you.

And bless our footsteps, for they have exhausted the desolate deserts,

And far be it from you that they find misery with you, or that you cause despair.

If the Almighty Creator guides a man to

A felicitous soul, then that man becomes the happiest of creation.

Have mercy, and preserve our strength with your granting,

For continuous journeying leaves nothing unexhausted.

And make the Messenger of Allah pleased with us, for indeed he,

Upon whom be Allah's blessings, is the most compassionate of all who exist.
