    I have dispelled my sorrow and my wretchedness

    By praising the absolute elite of all leaders,

    A devoted servant to his Creator and his Maker,

    A savior to the distressed and the unfortunate,

    وَأَجَّلُّهُمْ فِي نَفْسِ مَرْؤُوسِ

    The chief of chiefs, the finest of them in lineage,

    And the most exalted among them in the hearts of his subordinates;

    فِي أَعْيُنِ الأَعْيَانِ وَالرُّوسِ

    The most radiant among them in visage, and the most eminent

    In the eyes of the notables and the leaders;

    عَنْ فِعْلِ مَحْظُورٍ وَمَلْقُوسِ

    The most generous of them in hand, and the most resolute among them

    In refraining from the forbidden and the deceitful;

    لِلْمَجْدِ وَهْوِ أَجَلُّ مَلْبُوسِ

    The purest of them in garment, and the most adorned

    In glory, which is the most exalted of all attire;

    لِلْخَيْرِ وَهْوَ أَجَلُّ مَغْرُوسِ

    The purest of them in his planting, and the most prolific sower

    Of goodness, which is the most exalted of all seeds sown;

    لِلْفَضْلِ وَهْوَ أَجَلُّ مَحْرُوسِ

    The fiercest defender of pride, the most vigilant guardian

    Of virtue, which is the most exalted of all guarded treasures;

    نَفْساً وَأَرْأَفُهُمْ بِمَنْفُوسِ

    The most brilliant of them in spirit, the most precious of them

    In soul, and the most compassionate among them toward all living beings;

    خُلُقاً وَأَخْلَقُهُمْ بِتَنْفِيسِ

    The most sublime of them in form, and the finest of them

    In character, and the most worthy among them to bring relief;

    بِفَكَاكِ مَصْفُودٍ وَمَبْخُوسِ

    The highest among them in ambition, the most dedicated of them

    To the freeing of the shackled and the wronged;

    لِشَجٍ عَدِيمِ الذِّكْرِ ذِي بُوسِ

    The sweetest of them in reputation, and the most mindful of them

    Toward the sorrowful, the forgotten, and the destitute;

    أَوْلاَهُ مِنْ بِرٍّ وَتَأْنِيسِ

    Like Ibn Zakour, and sufficient for you is what

    He bestowed upon him of kindness and comforting solace;

    Were it not for him, no trace of him would have remained

    Among the faces of the illustrious and the unblemished.

    For when he bestowed upon him what he bestowed,

    In the realms of the rational and the perceived,

    قَامُوسَ مَحْمَدَةٍِ بِقَامُوسِ

    It was an overflowing ocean of nobility, gifting

    An ocean of praise with yet another ocean;

    مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَا السَّامِي الْقَرَاطِيسِ

    Thus, the cresting waves of the former cast the praises of the latter,

    For the sake of this exalted master of the pages;

    And the first, the benefactor, is like his gift,

    Deemed the sweetest among the vast oceans.

    مَجْلُوَّةً فِي عَرْشِ بَلْقِيسِ

    To him belong praises as radiant as his countenance,

    Resplendent as though upon the throne of Bilqis;

    And upon its ornaments is the exquisite design of its attire,

    Putting the brilliant wings of a peacock to shame.

    And it falls upon the wise to send forth their master,

    Dressed in the majesty of Dhu Yazan and Qabus,

    Bearing deep affection and the utmost sincerity of love,

    A love that has never sobered from the veneration of the Most Holy.
