قَدِ اكْتَسَى الْعُرْيَانْ
مِنْ مَائِسِ الأَغْصَانْ
The bareness has been clothed
Of the swaying branches
بِالسُّنْدُسِ
وَطَرَّزَ الْبُسْتَانْ
In fine green silk,
And the garden was embroidered
بِالْوَرْدِ وَالرَّيْحَانْ
وَالنَّرْجِسِ
With roses and sweet basil
And narcissus.
هَبَّتْ بِهِ الأَزْهَارْ
بِنَسْمَةِ الأَسْحَارْ
The flowers within it stirred
By the breeze of dawn
مِنَ الْوَسَنْ
وَهَاجَتِ الأَطْيَارْ
From their slumber,
And the birds were roused
بِرَائِقِ الأَشْعَارْ
أُمُّ الْحَسَنْ
With pristine verses
Of the nightingale,
تُسَبِّحُ الْجَبَّارْ
اَلْوَاحِدَ الْقَهَّارْ
Glorifying the Almighty,
The One, the Subduer,
مُولِي الْمِنَنْ
مَنْ عَلَّمَ الأَزْمَانْ
The Bestower of blessings,
He who taught the passing ages
بِمُذْهِبِ الأَشْجَانْ
عَنْ مُبْلِسِ
With the dispeller of sorrows
For the despairing soul,
وَكَلَّلَ الأَفْنَانْ
بِنُورِهَا الْفَيْنَانْ
And crowned the boughs
With lush, radiant blossoms
ذِي النَّفَسِ
فَالرَّوْضُ فِي نَشْرِ
Of sweet, fragrant breath.
Thus the garden spreads its scent,
يَبُثُّ بِالْفَجْرِ
سِرَّ الزَّهَرْ
Revealing at dawn
The secret of the flowers,
وَالأَرْضُ فِي حَشْرِ
كَتَائِبِ النَّوْرِ
While the earth gathers
Battalions of blossoms
ذَاتِ الْغُرَرْ
يُكْسَى مُلَى الْبِشْرِ
Bearing bright, shining faces;
Clothed in robes of gladness
بِبُسْطِهَا الْخُضْرِ
مَنِ اعْتَبَرْ
Upon its green carpets
Is he who takes heed.
شِمْ بَارِقَ السُّلْوَانْ
يَا ذَا الأَسَى الْيَقْضَانْ
Behold the lightning-flash of solace,
O you of wakeful sorrow,
فِي الْخُلَسِ
فَسَلْوَةُ الأَحْزَانْ
In these stolen moments,
For the comfort of griefs
فِي نَفْحَةِ الْبُسْتَانْ
بِا لْغَلَسْ
Lies in the garden's fragrant breath
In the twilight of dawn.
