يَا بَهْجَةَ الْخَمْرِ
فِي الأَنْمُلِ الْحُمْرِ
O joy of the wine
In the crimson fingertips
إِذْ تُدَارْ
مَا جَالَ فِي فِكْرِي
As it is passed around
It never crossed my mind
أَنْ يَنْتَهِي كَسْرِي
إِلَى الْجُبَارْ
That my brokenness would end
In being mended
وَيُنْشِدُ السُّلْوَانْ
مِنِّيَ مَا قَدْ حَانْ
And that solace would sing
Of what has come to pass in me
بِالاِصْطِبَارْ
فَيُنْتَشَى مِنِّي
Through patient endurance
Thus from me is inhaled
أَذْكَى مِنَ النَّدِّ
لِنَاشِقْ
A scent more fragrant than aloeswood
For the one who breathes it in
وَيُجْتَنَى مَنِّي
أَحْلَى مِنَ الشَّهْدِ
And from me is harvested
Something sweeter than honeycomb
لِذَائِقْ
وَتَشْتَهِي فَنِّي
For the one who tastes
And my art is desired
نَوَاعِمُ الْقَدِّ
رَوَاشِقْ
By tender, slender figures
Graceful and lithe
يَا لَذَّةَ السُّكْرِ
بِأَكْؤُسِ الشُّكْرِ
O pleasure of intoxication
With the chalices of gratitude
تِلْكَ الْكِبَارْ
يُدِيرُهَا رَيَّانْ
Those grand vessels
Poured by one wholly quenched
مِنْ وَابِلِ الإِحْسَانْ
عَلَى وَقَارْ
By the downpour of benevolence
With solemn dignity
يَرْتَاحُ لِلنَّدْمَانْ
كَأَنَّهُ عَاشِقْ
He rejoices with his drinking companions
As though he were a lover
لَهُ وَجِيبْ
يَا دِيمَةَ الرِّضْوَانْ
With a pounding heart
O gentle rain of grace
يُنْبِي بِهَا بَارِقْ
مِنَ الْحَبِيبْ
Foretold by a lightning flash
From the beloved
تَهْمِي عَلَى اللَّهْفَانْ
بِالْخَارِقِ الْحَارِقْ
Pouring upon the yearning soul
With a piercing fire that burns away
حُجْبَ الْعُيُوبْ
يَا رُوحَهُ يَجْرِي
The veils of faults
O his spirit flowing
مِنْ مَطْلِعِ الْفَجْرِ
إِلَى النَّهَارْ
From the break of dawn
Into the daylight
وَعِزُّهُ إِذْ هَانْ
لِمَوْقِعِ الأَذْهَانْ
And his glory as it yields
To the grasp of minds
فِي الاِنْهِيَارْ
In their surrender
