Behold, that to which you aspire and ascend,

Bears the name 'Bakhtiyar', that divided word.

Its two halves are 'Bakht' (fortune), then 'Yar' (companion), and its reverse,

For whoever seeks it, is the sound judgment by which a man shields himself.

Your fortune draws near to you every inaccessible thing,

While your reason banishes from you the humiliation of infatuation.

So be passionately drawn to nothing but the striving for a repose

That endures, and a union that knows no separation.
