أَخَذْنَا طَرِيقَ الْقَوْمِ حَمْداً لِسَيِّدِ

هَدَانَا لَهَا عَنْ خَيْرِ هَادٍ وَمُهْتَدِ

We took the path of the people, praising the Master

We have taken the path of the people, praise be to a Master,

Who guided us to it over any good guide or guided one,

Who guided us to it through the finest guide, who was himself guided.

عَنِ الحْسَنِ الْيُوسِيعَنْ نَجْلِ نَاصِرٍ

وَعَنْ نَجْلِ هَذَا أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ

From Al-Hassan Al-Yusi, from the progeny of Nasir,

From Al-Hasan Al-Yousi, from the son of Nasir,

And from the progeny of this Ahmad ibn Muhammad,

And from the son of the latter, Ahmad ibn Muhammad.

عَلَيْهِ عَنِ الرَّقِّي عَبْدِ الإِلَهِ عَنْ

مُسَدِّدِهِ الْحَاحِي مَوْلاَيَ أَحْمَدِ

From him from Ar-Raqi, Abd Al-Ilah, from

Upon him, from Al-Raqqi, Abd Al-Ilah, from

His supporter Al-Haji, my Master Ahmad,

His director Al-Hahi, Moulay Ahmad.

عَلَى قُطْبِهِ الْغَازِيعَلَى بَلَدِيِّهِ

عَلَي سِجِلْمَاسِّيِّ أَصْلٍ وَمُحْتَدِ

Upon his pole Al-Ghazi upon my countryman

Upon his Pole Al-Ghazi, upon his compatriot,

Ali Sijilmasi of origin and guided,

Ali Al-Sijilmasi, in origin and noble lineage.

وَمِنْ بَعْدِ هَذَا الأَحْمَدُونَ ابْنُ يُوسُفٍ

فَزَرُّ وقُفَ ابْنُ عُقْبَةٍ مُنْقِذُ الرَّدِي

And after this Ahmadun, the son of Yusuf,

And after this, the Ahmads: Ibn Yusuf,

So Zarruq, the son of Uqbah, the savior of the fallen,

Then Zarruq, then Ibn Uqba, the savior of the ruined.

نَمَاهُ قَرَافِيٌّ فَتَى ابْنِ عَطَائِهِ

لِمُرْسِيِّ هِذِي الشَّاذِلِيِّ الْمُؤَيَّدِ

Grown by Qarafi, the young man, son of his support,

Traced back to him by Al-Qarafi, the youth of Ibn Ata'illah,

For Mursy, this Ash-Shathili, the supported,

To Al-Mursi, then to the divinely supported Al-Shadhili.

بِعَبْدِ السَّلاَمِ قُطْبِ الأَقْطَابِ كُلِّهِمْ

فَكُلٌّ بِهِ لِلْفَخْرِ يُدْلِي بِأَوْحَدِ

By Abd As-Salam, the pole of all the poles,

Through Abd Al-Salam, the Pole of all Poles,

So each by him for pride casts with the most wonderful,

For through him, everyone proudly claims connection to an unparalleled figure.

فَلاَ تَحْتَشِمْ مِنْ أَنْ تَقُولَ مُجَاهِراً

أَلاَ يَا عِبَادَ اللهِ هَا ذَاكَ سَيِّدِي

So do not be ashamed to say openly,

So do not be shy to proclaim openly:

Behold, O servants of God, here is my Master,

O servants of Allah, behold, that is my Master!

إِلَى مَدَنِيٍّ عَبْدِ رَحْمَانَأَنْتَمِي

فَلِلَّهِ مَا شَمْسٌ أُضِيفَتْ لِفَرْقَدِ

To Madani, Abd Ar-Rahman, I belong,

To Madani, Abd Al-Rahman, I affiliate myself;

So for God, what sun was attributed to the solitary grave!

By Allah, what a sun has been joined to a brilliant star.

وَذَا لِتُقَيِّ الدِّينِ يُنْمَى مُصَغَّراً

لِتَعْظِيمِهِ مِثْلَ الْفُقَيِّرِ فَاحْتَدِ

And this for the authentication of religion is nurtured young

And this lineage ascends to Tuqayy Al-Din, whose name is made diminutive

For his glorification like the poor, so limit yourself!

Out of veneration for him, like Al-Fuqayyir, so follow this path.

فَالأَقْطَابُ فَخْرُ الدِّينِنُورُهُ تَاجُهُ

فَشَمْسُهُزَينُ الدِّينِرَتِّبْهُ تَرْشُدِ

For the poles are the pride of religion, its light, its crown,

For the Poles are: Fakhr Al-Din, his light, his crown,

And its sun the beauty of religion - arrange it, you will be guided!

Then his sun, Zayn Al-Din; arrange them and you will be guided.

وَهَذَا بِقَزْوِينَ تَأَلَّقِ مُذْ غَدَا

بِخِلْعَةِ بِصْرِيٍّ يَرُوحُ وَيَغْتَدِي

And this one in Qazwin did shine since he rose

And this one shone brilliantly in Qazwin ever since he became

With the robes of Bisri, he spiritually aspires and grows,

Adorned in the mantle of Al-Basri, coming and going.

كَمَا أَنَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَحْمَدَ أَحْمَداً

لِمَرْوَانَ يُعْزَى مُذْ حَبَاهُ بِمُحْمَدِ

Just as Ibrahim Ahmad Ahmad

Just as Ibrahim, Ahmad, and Ahmad,

To Marwan is attributed since he endowed him with Muhammad,

Are attributed to Marwan since he bestowed upon him praiseworthy traits.

سَقَاهُ سَعِيدٌكَاسَهُ مُتْرَعاً كَمَا

سَقاهُ بِهِ فَخْرُ السُّعُودِلِمُسْعِدِ

Saeed quenched his thirsty cup,

Sa'id poured for him his overflowing cup, just as

Just as the pride of the Saud family quenched it for Musa`id,

The pride of auspicious stars poured it for the blessed.

مِنَ الْفَضْلِ وَالتَّوْفِيقِ فَاللهُ يَجْتَبِي

إِلَيْهِ الذِي يَخْتَارُهُ مِنْ مُوحِّدِ

From bounty and success - so God chooses

By grace and divine success, for Allah chooses

To Him whom He elects from the devout,

Unto Himself whomever He selects among the monotheists.

فَهَذَا بِغَزْوَانِيَّة ٍ قَدْ غَزَا الْعُلاَ

فَدَانَتْ لَهُ مِنْ بَيْنِ مَثْنَى وَمَوْحَدِ

So this one in Ghazwaniya invaded the heights

So this one, through Ghazwaniyya, conquered the heights,

So between Mathna and Muwahhid surrendered to him,

And they submitted to him, both in pairs and alone.

وَمَنْ جَابِرٌ أُسْتَاذُهُ فَمُظَفَّرٌ

بِأَعْلَى الْعُلاَ فِي كُلِّ وَجْهٍ وَمَقْصَدِ

And whoever trained under his professor Muzaffar

And whoever has Jabir as his master is victorious

With the highest of aspirations in every way and purpose,

In the highest of heights, in every direction and goal.

فَقَدْ حَقَّقَ الْجَبَّارُ جَبْراً لِجَابِرٍ

بِمَا حَسَنٌ أَوْلاَهُ سِبْطُ مُحَمَّدِ

For Jabbar did necessitate success for Jabir

For the Compeller has truly mended the state of Jabir,

With what is beautiful, the grandson of Muhammad was granted

Through what Hasan, the grandson of Muhammad, bestowed upon him.

عَلَى جَدِّهِ مَنْ خَصَّهُ بِسِيَادَةٍ

صَلاَةُ عَظِيمٍ ذَاتُ رُوْحٍ مُؤَبَّدِ

Over his grandfather whom He distinguished with mastery

Upon his grandfather, the one singled out for absolute mastery,

The prayers of the Great One, the Everlasting Spirit,

Be the prayer of the Great One, possessing an eternal spirit.

وَذَا أَوَّلُ الأَقْطَابِ فَاضْرَعْ بِجَاهِهِ

إِلَى اللهِ تَظْفَرْ بِالذِي شِئْتَ مِنْ يَدِ

And this the first of poles - so beseech with his stature

And this is the first of the Poles, so plead by his rank

To God, you will obtain what you wished from His Hands,

To Allah, and you will attain whatever you desire from His hand.

وَبِالسَّادَةِ الأَقْطَابِ شَرْقاً وَمَغْرِباً

وَمَا قَدْ حََوَاهُ النَّظْمُ مِنْ مُتَعَبِّدَ

And by the Master Poles east and west

And by the master Poles, in the East and the West,

And what the poetry has contained of the devotional,

And all the devout worshippers this poem has encompassed,

عَلَيْهِمْ سَلامُ اللهِ مِنْ مُتَعَطِّشٍ

إِلَى نَاقِعٍ مِنْ وِرْدِهِمْ غُلَّةَ الصَّدِي

Upon them, may God's peace from a thirsty one

Upon them be the peace of Allah, from one thirsting

To a heavy drinker of their sweet spring,

For a quenching draught from their watering place to extinguish the burning thirst.
