O eloquent one, sweet of tongue
O you of fluent words and sweet disposition,
Son of the lofty, who brings joy to venerable companions,
And son of forefathers who tamed the noble, purebred steeds,
And through whom glory is attained
And the one by whom Tetouan has been richly sustained,
In the flourishing meadows of Iraq,
In a splendor that outshines the valleys of Iraq.
By God, never has a star risen
By God, what wondrous stars have been caused to rise,
That reached the full moon in splendor,
Before which the full moon of the horizon is overtaken by the wane.
You summoned me to intimacy in a garden
You invited me to joyous companionship in a garden,
Where the breeze of intimacy was fragrant and pleasing,
Where the breeze of fellowship grew sweet and clear.
I am at your service, O full moon of eminence and dew,
I answer your call, O full moon of eminence and generosity,
May time and the specter of separation never overcome you.
May fate never afflict you with the suddenness of parting.
