ذَابَ قَلْبِي مِنَ الصُّدُودِ وَلَوْلاَ
مَا أُرَجِّي مِنَ الْوِصَالِ قَضَيْتُ
My heart is melting from the estrangement, and if not
My heart has melted from rejection, and were it not
For my hope of reunion, I would have perished
For what I hope of our union, I would have perished.
لَيْتَ شِعْرِي وَهَلْ يَرِقُّ لِحَالِي
مَنْ هَوِيْتُ فَإِنَّنِي قَدْ هَوَيْتُ
I wish I knew: does my state affect
Would that I knew: will they ever soften to my state,
The one I love? For I have loved
The one I love? For indeed, I have fallen.
