My ailment disabled me, so I became a chief,
My ailment became severe, so I came to a master,
Surpassing Hippocrates and Thales in medicine.
Who has surpassed Aristotle in the art of healing,
I sought the cornerstone of rule, my master,
And I sought the pillar of lordship, our mas-
I, son of those who founded guidance on establishment.
-ter, the son of those who laid the very foundations of guidance,
And I regained the glory of the absent one who revived
And I sought the rainclouds of the absent one, he who re-
The West with a quarter of right guidance and wisdom.
-vived the ruined abode of righteousness in the West,
And I treasured the hoard of wealth, the spring of the bleary-eyed,
And I set out for the treasure of wealth, the elite of the no-
The sea of dew, Idris.
-ble chiefs, the ocean of generosity, Idris.
The sun of our salvation - thus some of his years
The sun of our salvation; for even a fraction of his radiance
Obliterated all that required abasement.
Obliterates all that brings about degradation.
The branch of God's servant and the two grandsons,
The branch of 'Abd al-Ilah, and the two Hasans,
And the successor shone their years like suns.
And the Legatee—they revealed his brilliance as suns—
And the virgin daughter of the Messenger of God,
And the Chaste one, daughter of the Messenger, upon whom Al-
Allah's prayers be upon him, watered its summit with cups.
-lah's blessings rest, who poured cups for his eminence.
Do not blame us for seeking it, we
Do not blame us for seeking him, for indeed we
Only sought through it the caliph of Jesus.
Have sought through him the successor of Jesus,
He before whom hands and heads bow down
And the one whose very feet are exalted as they str-
When they walk on his land covered with skulls and heads.
-ide upon his earth, above the necks and the heads.
Our delegation hastened to you, my master,
Our delegation has journeyed toward you, O mas-
My master of generosity, kissing hands.
-ter, O master of the noble ones, dispeller of misery,
Through your son, our neighbor, the content Idris,
Through your son, our neighbor, the well-pleasing Idris,
Help us perform good and bad deeds.
Spare us from the deeds of 'excellent' and 'wretched',
And turn from us fraud and deception,
And banish from us all deception and fraud,
That we may not see terrible torment.
So that perhaps we may never face a wretched torment.
And let us benefit from gifts abundantly
And grant us such spiritual gifts that over-
So we overflow with the outpouring of his dictionary.
-whelm the vast ocean with their pure, overflowing waters.
Give us the wine of wealth so that
Give us to drink the wine of enrichment from you, until
We do not fear poverty and bankruptcy.
We no longer fear hardship or bankruptcy,
And feed us sweet, desired food
And nourish us with the sweet food of aspirations,
That excels both quantity and quality.
That perfects the chyle and the chyme.
And quench us from cups of your righteousness, and dress
And give us to drink from the cups of your goodness, and bestow
Us in the fabric of contentment.
Upon us a garment woven from the fabric of contentment.
And water the heat of grief with your clouds, a watering
And quench the burning of our innards with your generosity, a quenching
That left no burning in our hearts.
That leaves not a trace of lingering fever in our hearts.
Do not waste a step we took to your abode,
Do not waste the footsteps by which we have reached your dwel-
The clearing of sublime old age and misfortune.
-ling, a dwelling of radiance that dispels all misfortunes.
We saw glory flourishing through it,
For we have seen the brilliance spreading widely within it,
And we saw majesty dwelling in it.
And we have seen majesty sitting there as a companion.
And greetings from your servant, the son of Zakour,
And peace from your servant, the son of Zaku-
Upon the tomb that remains inhabited.
-r, remaining perpetually confined upon this tomb,
Its scent is perfumed, like the scent of your tomb,
Its fragrance is as sweet as the scent of your soil,
However much glory the place of your rest contains, O groom.
As long as glory embraces your tomb like a lion's den.
And prayers upon Abu Al-Qasim the Elect,
And blessings be upon Abu al-Qasim, the Cho-
Whom you sanctified above all people.
-sen One, he who has endowed you with sanctification,
The most precious of all creation, through whom,
The most precious of all creation, the one through whom, O
O pearl of the pure, you were precious.
Pearl of the pure ones, you became so precious.
